What's in a Box?
We send our aquatic plants via 2-Day Express Service to ensure that they arrive at your door happy and healthy. Express shipping isn’t cheap, but we know how important it is that your plants reach their destination safe and sound.
We ship all of our plants bareroot. That means they will arrive in no or very little soil, with the roots possibly wrapped in wet paper. They may look a little haggard after their journey, but they will spring to life after you plant them or place them in your pond.
Receiving Your Shipment
Unpack your plants as soon as they arrive. We recommend monitoring the tracking number to ensure someone is home to receive the package, especially on hot days.
Your plants will probably look a little rough after their journey. As long as they are not completely brown and mushy, they are alive and will start to grow after you place them in your pond.
Caring for Water Hyacinths & Lettuce
Plant your new arrivals as soon as the as soon as possible. Failure to do so could lead to plant death (and will void your guarantee).
Water hyacinths and lettuce do not require soil. Just place them in an area of the pond with good water flow and let them float. Use a Floating Plant Ring or other barrier if needed to prevent them from going into your skimmer.
Hyacinths and lettuce are tropical plants, meaning they will not tolerate freezing temperatures. Wait until temperatures are appropriate before adding them to your pond, and remove them at the end of the season (they make great fertilizer!).
Water hyacinths and lettuce are fast growers and may need to be thinned out every so often. Never introduce plants to native waterways.
Water hyacinths do not consistently bloom in all ponds. Make sure they have plenty of sun to increase the chances of flowering, if desired.
